ADVANCED NOVICE (ADVANCED BEGINNER) LEVEL According to ISU Communication No. 1860, 1886, 1932, 1936, 1937

Age: By the start of the season, i.e. by July 1, neither partner may be younger than ten (10) years old and the age of the competitors must not have exceeded fifteen (15) years for girls and seventeen (17) years for boys. Compulsory dances: Group 2: #3 Rocker Foxtrot and #9 Starlight Waltz Group 3: #12 Kilian and #23 Blues In the 2015/2016 season, pairs may perform the Blues and Starlight Waltz to music of their own choice. The rhythm and tempo of the music must comply with the requirements of the given dance (see ISU Handbook Ice Dance 2003) +/- 2 beats per minute. Vocal music is allowed. The Kilian and Rocker Foxtrot are performed to ISU Ice Dance music. Free dance: Duration 3:00 +/- 10 seconds A well-balanced program must include a) Not more than two (2) different types of Short Lifts b) One (1) step sequence in a dance position on a straight line (center line or diagonal) or curve (circle or serpentine). Restrictions are listed in ISU Communication 1857 and updates are given in its addendum. c) One (1) synchronized twizzle set d) One (1) spin, but not more than one. Note: spin combination is not allowed. Level of difficulty explanation For the free dance of the Advanced Novice level, the highest level of difficulty is level 3 for all compulsory elements. JUNIORS According to ISU rules 609 and Communications 1932, 1936, 1937 Short dance: Duration 2:50 +/- 10 seconds Rhythms: Waltz plus March, Polka, Foxtrot. Compulsory dance elements must be performed in Waltz rhythm and style. During the compulsory dance elements, the music tempo must be constant and in accordance with the requirements of the Starlight Waltz.

Compulsory elements: • One (1) series (1 circle) of Starlight Waltz, performed separately. The first step of the series must start from the left side of the judges. • One (1) short lift is required, but not more than one. • One (1) step sequence on the center line, diagonal, or circle - partners do not touch each other. • One (1) series of consecutive twizzles. Restrictions are listed in ISU Communication 1857 and updates are given in its addendum. c) One (1) twizzle set The dance spin is not included in the list of compulsory elements. However, rotational movement in a pair around a common axis on one foot (or two feet) with an unlimited number of rotations is allowed. The dance pair uses this element/movement as a choreographic expression tool. The technical panel ignores this element (movement) and the judges' panel does not count this element (movement) as one of the allowed stops. Level of difficulty explanation For the free dance of the Basic Novice level, the highest level of difficulty is level 2 for all compulsory elements. No additional elements are taken into account for the level of difficulty and are ignored by the Technical Panel. Combinations can consist of only two jumps. The number of jumps in sequences is not regulated, but only two most difficult jumps are counted. iii) Only two 3- or more-rotation jumps can be repeated in jump combinations or sequences. iv) No 1x and 2x jumps (including 2A) can be performed more than twice in the program.

Music duration – every 5 seconds more than allowed results in a 0.5 point penalty. 5. Fall – 0.5 point penalty. 6. In the free skating program, there is no bonus for difficult elements performed in the second part.7. Protest can be filed no later than 48 hours after the announcement of the competition results. Protest can be filed if there are arithmetic errors or incorrectly entered elements in the protocol. In case of an incorrectly entered element, all members of the technical panel (Technical Controller, both technical specialists, and Data Operator) must agree to correct the error. The recording made by the competition organizers is taken into account. The cost of filing a protest is 50€. The protest must be submitted to the category referee in writing. If the referee is not available, the protest must be submitted to the competition secretariat. (ISU Rule 123)8. At EUL championship events, athletes are allowed to participate in higher categories according to the technical requirements of the given category.
