PAIRS SKATING

ADVANCED NOVICE (ISU Comm. 2624)

Advanced Novice patterns - short program max. 2:20 +/- 10 seconds and free skating 3:00 +/- 10 seconds.

Age requirements: before July 1 of the current season

• have turned 10 years old
• the girl has not turned 16 years old and the boy 18 years old

Advanced novice short program:

• a) One (1) lift (group 1 to 4), one-hand hold is not allowed

• b) One (1) twist lift (single or double)

• c) One (1) solo jump (double)

• d) One (1) solo spin combination without change of foot (minimum six (6) rotations)

• e) One (1) death spiral

• f) One (1) step sequence, which covers the entire ice surface.

Advanced Novice free skating:

• a) Two (2) lifts, either both from group 1 or 2 (the take-off must be different) or two different lifts from groups 1-4. If group 3 and/or 4 lifts are performed, both lifts must not be from the same group. One-hand hold is not allowed. For group 1 and 2 lifts, the man's lifting arm does not need to be fully extended.

• b) One (1) throw jump (double)

• c) One (1) solo jump (double)

• d) One (1) pair spin combination (minimum six (6) rotations)

• e) One (1) death spiral

• f) one (1) choreographic sequence, which consists of at least two different movement elements by both partners (skating movement).

In all elements where levels are assigned, features are only counted up to level 3. Additional features are not taken into account for level determination.

Lift explanation:

Group 1 lift, where the girl's head remains upright and she does not rise above the man's shoulders. Possible holds to allow variety: hand - shoulder, hand - upper arm, hand - waist, hand - hand hold.
