Senior (International Senior competitions, ISU Senior Championships, and Winter Olympic Games) is a skater who, before July 1st of the current season, has met the following requirements: i) has turned at least seventeen (17) years old. Changes to the assessment criteria of the ISU system (adaptations for children/youth categories):

  1. Athletes cannot move from A-class to B-class during the season. In case of violation of the rules, the club will be deprived of support from the Youth Sports Foundation.
  2. The evaluation criteria are presented in ISU Comm. 2701 and related appendices.
  3. No more than two 1x, 2x, or 3x jumps (including 1A) can be performed in the program.
  4. Program duration – a penalty of 0.5 points for each excess or missing 5 seconds.
  5. Falls:  Each fall outside an element -0.5 points  Fall in an element: the technical panel identifies, but there is no penalty.
  6. Interruptions in the program: Each interruption that is:
  • 10 to 20 seconds: -0.5
  • 20 to 30 seconds: -1.0
  • 30 to 40 seconds: -1.5 Allowing an interruption of up to 3 minutes, with continuation from the point of interruption – 2.5 points/program
  1. In the free program, there is no factor of 1.1 for jump elements performed in the second half of the program.
  2. Protest A protest must be submitted to the category referee in writing. If the referee is not available, the protest must be submitted by email to the competition secretariat, who will forward it to the referee. (ISU Rule 123). A protest cannot be filed against the referees', judges', and technical panel's (technical controller, technical specialists) assessment of the athlete's performance. A protest regarding incorrect mathematical calculation will be accepted no later than 24 hours after the awarding of the respective competition. Errors in identifying an element or determining its level, although they may result in a decrease or increase in the point total, do not fall under the concept of "arithmetic errors" or incorrectly entered elements. In the case of an incorrectly entered element, all members of the technical panel (technical controller, both technical specialists, and data operator) must agree to correct the error. The recording made by the competition organizers will be taken into account. All protests (except for incorrect mathematical calculation) must be submitted no later than 30 minutes after the end of the respective segment. A protest can only be filed by the athlete or the team leader accredited for the competition, or by the members of the competition organizing committee or clubs that have entered the competitor, with their consent. The cost of filing a protest is 50€ and must be paid together with the submission of the protest. If the protest is resolved positively, the money will be refunded. Otherwise, the protest fee will remain with the competition organizers.
  3. At EUL calendar and title competitions, athletes are allowed to participate in higher categories if their skills meet the technical requirements of the given category.
  4. The warm-up time is 4 minutes, and there can be up to 8 competitors in the warm-up group.

2025/20264 / 6 Estonian Skating UnionBASIC NOVICE (ISU Comm. 2699)Free program 2:30 min.+/-10 sec. Age requirements - single skaters, girls and boys: must not have turned 14 years old before July 1 of the current season. Free program requirements (for both boys and girls): a) max. 5 jump elements, of which: i) one (1) Axel-type jump ii) max. two (2) jump combinations or one jump combination and one jump sequence. The combination and sequence can consist of only two jumps. In the jump sequence, the second jump must be an Axel-type jump, i.e., with a takeoff from the edge of the first jump's landing directly to the takeoff edge of the Axel. Jumps performed in a sequence receive full value. iii) 3x and 4x jumps are not allowed. iv) Only one 1x and one 2x jump (including 2A) can be repeated in the program. b) max. 2 different spins, of which: i) one (1) spin combination with a change of foot (min. 8 revolutions) or without a change of foot (min. six (6) revolutions in total). In the case of a spin combination with a change of foot, only one level feature per foot is considered. Entry from a jump is allowed. A non-base position complex variation is not considered a level feature in this spin and is not evaluated by the Technical Panel. ii) one (1) spin in one position and without a change of foot (min. six (6) revolutions). The spin is performed in the base position without complex position variations, and its maximum level is the base level. In addition to the required number of revolutions, complex variations can be performed, but they are not evaluated by the Technical Panel. Level features are not allowed in this spin. Up to 8 revolutions can be performed, but this is not considered an attempt at a feature. Entry from a jump is not allowed. c) one (1) step sequence that covers the entire ice surface and includes at least one movement element, such as a spiral, spread eagle, Ina Bauer, hydroblading, etc. If a movement element is missing, no level will be given. At least 2 complex turns and steps must be performed with clean edges to achieve the base level.   • must not have turned 16 years old Boys' short program: a) Single Axel Paulsen (1A) or double Axel Paulsen (2A) b) Double (2x) or triple (3x) jump (cannot be the jump in point a) c) One (1) jump combination consisting of 2x/3x+2x or 2x+3x jumps and the second jump is a Rittberger (in the 2025/2026 season). Jumps cannot be the same as in points a and b. d) Camel spin with a change of foot (min. 5 revolutions on each foot) or without a change of foot (min. 6 revolutions), (in the 2025/2026 season). Entry into the spin from a jump is not allowed. e) Only one spin combination with a change of foot (min. 5 revolutions on each foot). Entry into the spin from a jump is not allowed. f) One (1) step sequence, which covers the entire ice surface. For level 4 - Two combinations of three (3) difficult turns on different feet: combinations must include a step forward and a step backward (in the 2025/26 season). These can be in the same combination or one in the first and one in the second combination. Only one difficult turn can be repeated once in these two combinations. To achieve the base level, at least two (2) difficult turns and steps must be performed on clean edges. Girls' short program: a) Single Axel Paulsen (1A) or double Axel Paulsen (2A) b) Double (2x) or triple (3x) jump (cannot be the jump in point a) c) One (1) jump combination consisting of 2x/3x+2x or 2x+3x jumps and the second jump is a Rittberger (in the 2025/2026 season). Jumps cannot be the same as in points a and b. d) Sit spin forward or sideways or camel spin without a change of foot (min. 6 revolutions). Entry from a jump is not allowed (in the 2025/2026 season). e) Only one spin combination with a change of foot (min. 5 revolutions on each foot). Entry from a jump is not allowed. f) One (1) step sequence, which covers the entire ice surface. For level 4, two combinations of three (3) difficult turns on different feet must be performed: combinations must include a step forward and a step backward (in the 2025/26 season). These can be in the same combination or one in the first and one in the second combination. Only one difficult turn can be repeated once in these two combinations. To achieve the base level, at least two (2) difficult turns and steps must be performed on clean edges. Jumps that do not meet the short program requirements (wrong number of revolutions) will not be valued. If the same jump is performed as a solo jump and as part of a jump combination, the repeated jump will not be evaluated (if the repetition was in the jump combination, only the jump that does not meet the requirements will not be evaluated).

One jump combination or jump sequence can consist of up to three (3) jumps, the rest only of two jumps. A jump sequence consists of two (2) or three (3) jumps with a freely chosen number of revolutions. The sequence starts with a freely chosen jump, followed by an Axel-type jump. The transition to the second jump is with a takeoff from the edge of the first jump's landing directly to the Axel's takeoff edge. iii) Only two 3x jumps can be repeated in a combination or sequence. iv) 4x jumps are not allowed. v) No 1x, 2x (including 2A), or 3x jump can be performed more than twice in the program. vi) The same type of jump, regardless of the number of revolutions, can be performed in the program no more than three times. b) max. 2 different spins, of which i) one (1) spin combination with a change of foot (min. 8 revolutions) Entry from a jump is not allowed. ii) one (1) spin with a low position (min. 6 revolutions). A change of foot is allowed, but a change of position is not allowed (in the 2025/26 season). If the spin is performed with a change of foot, a minimum of eight (8) revolutions is required. c) one (1) choreographic sequence, which consists of at least two different movement elements (skating movements). Warm-up time: Basic Novice 4 min., Intermediate Novice 4 min., Advanced Novice short program 4 min and free skating 5 min.9. In the short and free programs, there is no provision for a 1.1 factor for jumps performed in the second part.10. In the Advanced Novice category short and free programs, bonus points are awarded for performed jumps. A jump with a warning (!) and a quarter landing (q) can receive bonus points. Jumps can be performed as solo jumps, in combination or in sequence.   • in pair skating the girl has not turned 16 years old and the boy 18 years old Advanced novice short program: • One (1) lift (group 1 to 4), one-hand hold is not allowed • One (1) twist lift (single or double) • One (1) solo jump (double) • One (1) solo spin combination with a change of foot (min. 5 rotations on each foot) or without a change of foot (min. 6 rotations). • One (1) death spiral • One (1) step sequence, which covers the entire ice surface.

Music selection must be suitable for both the skater and their age. Costumes must be age-appropriate and suitable for the competition environment.
