2021/2022 / 6 Estonian Skating Union EUL CLASSIFICATION 2021/2022 A-CLASSBeginners I A 2015 and younger (Pre-chicks A): Free skating program 2:00 min. +/-10 sec. Free skating program requirements (for both boys and girls): a) max. 4 jump elements, of which i) max. two (2) jump combinations or sequences. Combinations may consist of only two jumps. Jump sequence consists of two freely chosen jumps with a rotation number. The sequence starts with a freely chosen jump, followed by an Axel-type jump. The transition to the second jump is by stepping directly from the landing curve of the first jump to the takeoff curve of the Axel. b) max. two (2) different spins c) one step sequence that covers the entire rink. Components to be evaluated are: ● Skating skills (skating ability) ● Performance (performance) Component factor is 2.5. In all elements for which levels are assigned, features are only considered up to level 2. Other features are not considered for level assignment. Beginners II A 2013/2014 (Chicks A): Free skating program 2:00 min.+/-10 sec. Free skating program requirements (for both boys and girls): a) max. 4 jump elements, of which i) one (1) jump must be an Axel-type jump. ii) max. two (2) jump combinations or sequences. Combinations may consist of only two jumps. Jump sequence consists of two freely chosen jumps with a rotation number. The sequence starts with a freely chosen jump, followed by an Axel-type jump. The transition to the second jump is by stepping directly from the landing curve of the first jump to the takeoff curve of the Axel. b) max. two (2) different spins (min. four (4) rotations) c) One (1) step sequence that covers the entire rink. Free skating program requirements (for both boys and girls): a) max. 4 jump elements, of which i) one (1) must be an Axel-type jump. ii) max. two (2) jump combinations or sequences. Combinations may consist of only two jumps. Jump sequence consists of two freely chosen jumps with a rotation number. The sequence starts with a freely chosen jump, followed by an Axel-type jump. The transition to the second jump is by stepping directly from the landing curve of the first jump to the takeoff curve of the Axel. b) max. 2 different spins, of which i) one (1) spin combination with a foot change (min. three (3) rotations on each foot) or without a foot change (min. six (6) rotations in total) and ii) one (1) spin with a position change and a foot change (min. three (3) rotations on each foot) or without a foot change (min. six (6) rotations in total). In both cases, entry from a jump is allowed. c) one (1) step sequence that covers the entire rink. Components to be evaluated are: ● Skating skills (skating ability) ● Performance (performance) Component factor is 2.5. In all elements for which levels are assigned, features are only considered up to level 2. Other features are not considered for level assignment. ISU system evaluation criteria changes (adaptations for children/youth categories):

  1. Evaluation criteria are ISU Comm. 2334 and related addenda.
  2. All 1x and 2x jumps (including 1A) cannot be performed more than twice in the program.
  3. Program length – every additional 5 seconds will result in a 0.5 point penalty.
  4. Fall – 0.5 point penalty.
  5. Interruptions in the program: Every interruption that is: - 10 to 20 seconds: - 0.5- 20 to 30 seconds: - 1.0
  • 30 to 40 seconds: - 1.5 Allowing an interruption of up to 3 minutes, with continuation from the point of interruption – 2.5 points/program
  1. In the free skating program, there is no factor 1.1 for jump elements performed in the second part.
  2. A protest will be accepted no later than 24 hours after the announcement of the competition results. A protest can be submitted if there are arithmetic errors in the protocol. Errors in element identification or level assignment, although they affect the point total, do not fall under the concept of "arithmetic errors" or incorrectly entered elements. In the case of an incorrectly entered element, all members of the technical panel (Technical Controller, both Technical Specialists, and Data Operator) must agree to correct the error. The recording made by the competition organizers will be taken into account. The cost of submitting a protest is 50€ and it must be paid together with the submission of the protest. The protest must be submitted to the category referee in written form. If the referee is not available, the protest must be submitted by e-mail to the competition secretariat, which will forward it to the referee. (ISU Rule 123).

In EUL calendar and title competitions, athletes are allowed to participate in higher categories if their skills meet the technical requirements of the given category. 9. The warm-up time is 4 minutes and there can be up to 8 competitors in the warm-up group. BASIC NOVICE (ISU comm. 2396) Free skating program 2:30 min.+/-10 sec. Free skating program requirements (for both boys and girls): a) max. 5 jump elements, of which i) one (1) must be an Axel-type jump. ii) max. two (2) jump combinations or sequences. Combinations may consist of only two jumps. Jump sequence consists of two (2) freely chosen jumps with a rotation number. The sequence starts with a freely chosen jump, followed directly by an Axel-type jump.

2021/20224 / 6 Estonian Skating UnionThe following is an Axel-type jump. The transition to the second jump is by stepping directly from the first jump's landing curve to the Axel's takeoff curve. iii) 3x and 4x jumps are not allowed. iv) In the program, only one 1x and one 2x jump (including 2A) can be repeated. b) max. two (2) different spins, of which i) one (1) spin combination with a change of foot (min. 8 revolutions) or without a change of foot (min. 6 revolutions). ii) one (1) spin in one position with a change of foot (min. 8 revolutions in total) or without a change of foot (min. 6 revolutions). For both spins, entry from a jump is allowed. c) one (1) step sequence that covers the entire ice surface. The components to be evaluated are: ● Skating skills (skating ability) ● Performance (performance) ● Interpretation (music interpretation) The component factor is a) for boys 2.0 b) for girls 1.7. In all elements for which levels are determined, features are only considered up to level 2. Other features are not considered for level determination. ADVANCED NOVICE (ISU comm. 2396) Advanced Novice programs - short program max. 2:20 +/- 10 seconds and free skate 3:00 +/- 10 seconds. Age requirements: before July 1st of the current season

  • have turned 10 years old
  • have not turned 15 years old Boys' short program: a) Axel Paulsen (1A) or double Axel Paulsen (2A) b) Double (2x) or triple (3x) jump (cannot be jump a) c) One (1) jump combination consisting of 2x+2x or 2x+3x or 3x+2x, and the jumps cannot be jumps a) and b) d) Camel, sit or upright spin with a change of foot (min. 5 revolutions on each foot), which cannot be entered from a jump. e) Only one spin combination with a change of foot (min. 5 revolutions on each foot). Spin entry from a jump is allowed. f) One (1) step sequence that covers the entire rink. Girls' short program:

2021/20225 / 6 Estonian Skating Union a) Axel Paulsen (1A) or double Axel Paulsen (2A) b) Double (2x) or triple (3x) jump (cannot be jump a) c) One jump combination consisting of 2x+2x or 2x+3x or 3x+2x, and the jumps cannot be jumps a) and b) d) Camel spin to the back or side or spin in one basic position without a change of foot (min. 6 revolutions) and entry from a jump is not allowed. e) Only one spin combination with a change of foot (min. 5 revolutions on each foot). Spin entry from a jump is allowed. f) One (1) step sequence that covers the entire rink. Jumps that do not meet the short program requirements (wrong number of revolutions) will not be evaluated. If the same jump is performed as a solo jump and as part of a jump combination, the repeated jump will not be evaluated (if the repetition was in the jump combination, only the jump that does not meet the requirements will not be evaluated). Free skate (for both boys and girls): a) max. 6 jump elements, of which i) one (1) must be an Axel-type jump. ii) max. two (2) can be jump combinations or sequences. One jump combination can consist of up to three (3) jumps, and the rest can only consist of two jumps. The jump sequence consists of two (2) jumps with a freely chosen number of revolutions. The sequence starts with a freely chosen jump, followed by an Axel-type jump. The transition to the second jump is by stepping directly from the first jump's landing curve to the Axel's takeoff curve. iii) Only two 3x jumps can be repeated in a jump combination or sequence. iv) 4x jumps are not allowed. v) No 1x, 2x (including 2A) or 3x jump can be performed more than twice in the program. b) max. 2 different spins, of which i) one (1) must be a spin combination with a change of foot (min. 8 revolutions), and spin entry from a jump is not allowed; ii) one (1) spin from a jump (min. 6 revolutions) or a spin with a change of foot in one position (min. 8 revolutions). c) max. one (1) step sequence that covers the entire ice surface. The components to be evaluated are: ● Skating skills (skating ability) ● Transitions (linking steps and movements) ● Performance (performance) ● Interpretation (music interpretation) The component factors are: In the short program: for boys 0.9 for girls 0.8 In the free skate: for boys 1.8 for girls 1.6 In all elements for which levels are determined, features are only considered up to level 3. Other features are not considered for level determination.

  1. Interruptions in the program in all Novice categories: For each interruption that is
  • over 10 seconds and up to 20 seconds: - 0.5
  • over 20 seconds and up to 30 seconds: - 1.0
  • over 30 seconds and up to 40 seconds: - 1.5
  • Interruption allowed up to 3 minutes, with continuation from the point of interruption – 2.5 points/program
  1. Fall – 0.5 points
  2. The warm-up group can have up to 8 competitors.
  3. Warm-up time: Basic Novice 4 min., Intermediate Novice 5 min., Advanced Novice short program 4 min and free skate 5 min.
  4. In the short and free skate programs, there is no 1.1 factor for jump elements performed in the second part.
  5. In the Advanced Novice category, bonus points are awarded for jumps performed. Jumps must be fully executed or with a quarter landing (q) and meet the short program requirements and free skate jump repetition rules. Jumps can be performed as solo jumps, combinations, or sequences. Jumps for which the technical panel has determined the following will not receive bonus points: <, <<, e, with a fall or not performed according to the rules (*). ● Short program: a maximum of two (2) bonus points can be awarded as follows: one (1) bonus point for one (1) 2A and one (1) bonus point for one (1) triple jump. Jumps are evaluated in the order of performance. ● Free skate: a maximum of three (3) bonus points can be awarded as follows: one (1) bonus point for one (1) 2A and two (2) bonus points for any two (2) different triple jumps. Jumps are evaluated in the order of performance.
  6. If an extra jump (jumps) is performed, it will not be evaluated as a single, rule-non-compliant jump. Jumps are evaluated in the order of performance.
